L’Oreal Paris – and indeed, the beauty industry at large – are finally beginning to realise that women want to see themselves reflected in some of their campaigns. It is no longer good enough to simply have a beautiful model selling a lipstick; we want to see more. More ambassadors of various ages, body types and personalities. The iconic brand knows that their audience encompasses many’different women. Just as Susan Sarandon‘s campaign?was?inclusive for the older?women (and rejected the obscene notion that only youth equals beauty), the news of their latest ambassador is a positive move.
Actress Elle Fanning has always been the underdog; she takes on projects you wouldn’t expect of a 19-year-old (The Neon Demon), and regardless of the red carpet, she always looks comfortable – she looks like herself. Her style is very on trend and elegant, yet there’s a dash of quirkiness to the rising star. It’s apparent in all her work. And it’s always a joy to see major brands embrace this; the traits that make us all so interesting, that allow us to be ourselves.
A week after scoring her first Vogue cover, Fanning has been named the new face of L’Oreal Paris – her first beauty campaign for them will be for the Paradise mascara.
She’ll’debut as the beauty brand’s ambassador at Cannes, where L’Oreal Paris has served as one of the film festival’s official sponsors for the past 20 years. The actress?has two films premiering there, including Sofia Coppola’s The Beguiled.?
Fanning follows in the footsteps of fellow brand ambassadors Naomi Watts, Helen?Mirren, Julianne Moore, Zoe?Saldana, Blake Lively, Eva Longoria and?Karlie?Kloss.
We just have one question: where can we get our hands on that lipstick?
EDIT: We found out. It’s?L’Oreal Colour Riche Matte lipstick in 346, Scarlet Silhouette.
