Cream blush isn’t always easy to apply, but these tips will help

Cream blush can be tricky, and it can go wrong quite easily, Aisling Keenan has learned from trial and (serious) error…

Whether you use powder foundation or liquid foundation, whether you prefer peach, pink or purple shades, these tips will help you achieve that flawless, natural and lived-in look that cream blush can give you.

The cream blush commandments

Here are my top cream blush tips, from me, as a regular girl who applies cream blush every day.

Have a face cloth handy. When you apply make-up with your fingers, it’s good to wipe colour off now and then to avoid getting it everywhere.

If you use a powder foundation, apply the cream blush first. You can top it up after, if needs be, but it works great under powder foundation when applied to clean skin.

Blend first with your fingers to warm up the product, and then pat a stippling brush around your face to fully spread it in.

Don’t be afraid to take the excess product on your brush and lightly press it in elsewhere, like on your forehead and across your eyelids – it makes the whole look more seamless.

Check in natural or very bright light to make sure you haven’t gone overboard and applied too much. If you have, soften it with your foundation brush.

Layer powder blush over cream to make an extra long-lasting formula of your own

For the quickest, most seamlessly natural beauty look ever, use your cream blush as lip balm and as a light swipe of colour on your eyes. Trust me. You’ll look like a goddess.
