Charlotte Tilbury contains multitudes; business behemoth, beauty authority, fashion week and magazine cover master, celebrity go-to, fashion cognoscenti, Ibiza party girl and maybe surprisingly, a spiritual sage who infuses her serums with crystals and now, her musks with manifestation.

Much has been said about how scent can evoke a memory and a moment – but what if it could invoke it?

That’s what Charlotte Tilbury’s new fragrance collection of emotions sets out to do – in her words because no one puts it better than she does – ”they are scents that make you feel specific emotions, they allow you to architect your dream day and night, elevating the art of fragrance through neuroscience and emotion-boosting molecules.”

So how does that work? Across six beautiful rainbow bottles that look like magic potions, tech experts harnessed the power of scent to unlock emotions, 40 years of research and actual neuroscience to create perfumes that enhance feelings of love, happiness, seduction, serenity, energy and empowerment.

With decades of scientific research from the International Flavors & Fragrance perfumery house, scent science specialists analysed tens of thousands of people around the world to scientifically measure how fragrance notes impact different people, creating an algorithm to enhance emotion through fragrance accords.

That’s not all that’s bottled into the new fragrances. Each alchemist bottle comes coloured to match the crystal its mood invokes – Love Frequency is morganite pink for love, Calm Bliss is aquamarine for serenity. They also come inscribed with a number and symbol – Cosmic Power has a unicorn for power, Joyphoria has a sun for abundance – plus a mantra to serve as an affirmation throughout the day: Magic Energy’s is “I am grounded and balanced and energised.”

Most exciting is the compendium of noses behind the scents. Three of the finest perfumers in the world have created the fragrance collection, the best noses in the world who have developed industry-leading fragrances for many of the world’s luxury fragrance houses. Firstly, Dominique Rupion, the master perfumer behind all of your favourite scents (Frédéric Malle Portrait of A Lady, Lancôme La Vie est Belle, Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb), Anne Flipo, the first woman to be recognized as a Master Perfumer by IFF, where she currently serves as Vice President, with 200 scents to her name and Juliette Karagueuzoglou, awarded the Rising Star Award by Fashion Group International in 2010.
