The best of beauty at LFW: Wren Boys and gothic glamour

The best of beauty at LFW: Wren Boys and gothic glamour

After a week of vivid neons and statuesque hair at NYFW, we turned our eyes and Instagram feeds over to SS20 in London this week.

When it comes to hair, the biggest news of the week is that Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner are blondes now. Hair accessories still reign supreme: where over stateside they were nothing short of jewellery, it was all bonnets, bows and bandanas over in London. We may be biased, but Simone Rocha has our heart when it comes to hair trends each year with pearl and feather embellished hair clips and headbands, but this season might have been our favourite Simone Rocha beauty look ever. Inspired by the Wren Boys, make-up artist Thomas de Kluyver paired raw skin with feathery, graphic flicks of black and white liner or handpainted six styles of liner feathers down the nose. Hairstylist Duffy created four hair looks, with natural texture, French braids and raffia-woven sculptural triumphs. Swoon-worthy as ever, and made our Irish hearts soar with pride.

In terms of nail trends, Roland Mouret showed cloud-like negative-space styles and Tom Ford wants you to wear acrylics so long that you’ll never open a can of Diet Coke yourself again. Ama Quashie placed pearls on either the tip or cuticle of the nail over a nude base at Simone Rocha and the nail artist we look for every season, Lauren Michelle Pires, outdid herself again with hand-cut scalloped beauties at Yuhan Wang.

Gothic glamour took hold of backstage make-up looks, with Isamaya Ffrench creating a modern take on glitter with swooping black liner dusted with silver shimmer at Halpern, glossy vinyl jet black lips worn with raw pink eyes by Terry Barber (who else?) at Marques’Almeida and blurred black lips that looked like the models had eaten coal at Molly Goddard.

Check out our favourite beauty moments at London Fashion Week below. Next stop, Milan!
