The ten best make-up palettes of 2019 so far

There’s a palette for every palate.

In search of the perfect palette? These are the best ten to launch so far this year.

Charlotte Tilbury Glowgasm Face Palette, €75

Charlotte Tilbury added more entries to an already stellar line-up of cult products for a radiant glow with the Glowgasm range. There are two perfect bronzing and highlighting palettes, two new shimmering editions of Collagen Lip Bath and a peach, gold and pink shades of her hero Beauty Light Wands and all are essentials for fans of glowing skin. Charlotte Tilbury strikes gold once again.

Lancôme Chiara Eye and Face Palette, €70

Forbes’ most powerful fashion influencer and Lancôme muse Chiara Ferragni has collaborated with the brand for her first make-up collection. Metallic rose, winking eye and glitter galore – the signatures of Chiara Ferragni of The Blonde Salad’s fashion line are written all over the collection. If you only pick up one piece, make it the Face and Eye Palette. Designed to mimic the shades Chiara wears most, there are three brushes and thirteen mix and match shades of lipsticks, eyeshadows, blush, highlighters and lipgloss to create multiple gorgeous looks.

Michelle Fox x Fuschia Face and Eye Palette, €35

This palette is the latest to land on the beauty desk. Make-up artist Michelle Fox has collaborated with Irish brand Fuschia to create a beautiful palette mixed with mattes and shimmers, with everyday warm browns, winter berries and glimmering golds plus an added contour, blush and highlight. The pigment packs a punch and every single shade is wearable.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Alyssa Edwards Palette, €54

This eyeshadow palette may be less wearable, depending on your level of colour bravery, but it is no less gorgeous. Created in collaboration with Drag Race favourite Alyssa Edwards, this palette is not for the faint of heart, the brights are electric and the metallics really gleam, and as with all products from Anastasia Beverly Hills, the colour pay off is superb. If you love to wear vivid bright eyeshadow, there really is no better option.

MAC Hyper Real Glow Palettes, €42

If the Charlotte Tilbury Glowgasm Palettes are for a golden glow, the MAC Hyper Real Glow Palettes are for galaxy glow. Available in ‘Get Lit’, for extraterrestrial lavender, champagne and pastel highlights or ‘Shimmy Peach’ for coppery, golden luminosity that’s surely visible from space.

HUDA Beauty Neon Obsessions Palette, €30

Fluorescent washes of electric neon took centre stage this season at Kenzo, Carolina Herrera, Chromat and Natasha Zinko but if you’re not ready for Kenzo’s vivid graphic eye,  take a subtle approach by using a small artist brush to create cute details and neon eyeliner, advises Sue Brophy in the September issue of IMAGE, out now. For the ultimate entry-level to neon, see HUDA Beauty’s three striking Neon Obsessesions creamy palettes.

Tom Ford Soleil Contouring Compact in a Bask, €90

For your everyday blush, bronzer and highlight, this is the Rolls Royce of palettes. Beautifully packaged in white and gold, I would have been convinced to buy this on packaging alone if it was rubbish but it, of course, it isn’t, it’s Tom Ford after all. The bronzer is luxurious in the perfect warm brown to fake a tan, the peachy blush glides on and feels like velvet and the radiant shimmering highlight brightens the dullest of skins with the lightest touch.

Dior Backstage Glow Face Palette in 002 Glitz, €47.50

Choose your glow level with Dior’s four shades of extremely radiant highlighters, in warm peach, golden bronze, icy pearly white and shimmering gold, in an ultra-light formula that can be worn lightly for subtle sheen or packed on for dazzling glow.

Benefit Cheekleaders Palettes, €65

This year, Benefit introduced their five-in-one highlight, contour and bronze palettes, complete with cult beauty hero Hoola Bronzer. With two palettes, Pink Squad, filled with peachy pinks and bright rosy pinks, and Bronze Squad, in warm, glowy pinks and browns, the hunt for your perfect blush is over.

Urban Decay Naked Honey, €47

Earlier this year, the beauty cognoscenti mourned the loss of the world’s most popular palette, the Urban Decay Naked Palette, the legend that started it all. Naked spawned a million copycat palettes but their buttery mattes and shimmers could never be truly replicated. News has broken that Naked has had a facelift and is back and better than ever from September 13 in a new iteration, Naked Honey, with the honeyed gold and creamy browns we all know and love.
