FIRM FAVOURITE
It ain’t what you wear, it’s the way that you wear it? That’s not exactly what Clarins are saying with the launch of their nighttime Extra-Firming Mask (?62), but they’re highlighting the importance of proper application for maximum benefits. The cream, designed to strengthen skin collagen, protect elasticity and diminish lines and wrinkles, should be pressed into the face at key points – forehead, orbital bones, cheeks, and jaw, whilst also applied to the softer facial area, to ensure key benefits penetrate through the skin. Such acupressure massage also brings a wave of relaxation too – a beautiful side benefit when targeting fatigued skin, tension lines and the face-hollowing effects of stress.
GRAPHIC DETAIL
Those who love sweeping eyeliner are in for a treat this season, as a good, graphic eye is at the heart of fall’s runway trends (see Lyndsey Cavanagh’s how-to tutorial on page xxx). To add variety and push the look further, experiment with colour; Too Faced launches a dozen shades in their Liquid Art Liner collection (?20) to offer easy, fluid, application and waterproof wear in a full kaleidoscope of options.
SPRITZ THIS
Autumn brings a new wave of heavenly-scented blends, designed for new-season sophisticates.Taking his first steps in to fragrances with a green accord, Tom Ford’s new Private Blend trio (?182 each for 50ml) are predictably divine, but naturally, full of surprises. Vert de Fleur is verdant and sparkling; Vert des Bois incorporates woody smokiness while Vert d?Encens, as the name implies, has hint of incense whilst staying green with pine and fir in the dry down.
By now everyone knows Jo Malone works under her new label, Jo Loves, and the fragrance innovations keep coming. Mandrine (?110 for 50ml) takes citrus to exquisite new dimensions when blended with thyme and crushed spices to evoke sunny summer memories.
Already on the?counter, but not to be missed, the latest edition to the Exclusifs de Chanel, Boy (?175 for 75ml) is divine; a unisex blend including lavender, rose, lemon, grapefruit and rose geranium, plus sandalwood and musk, the result is refined, energetic and alluring.
TEEN TALONS
Tempting teens and tweens into the mani station, Nails Inc launch their ?Pay Your Age? initiative, offering their signature Express Manicure – a 15-minute file, shape and polish, usually €24 – for the same price as your years. Simply produce ID and you pay your years in euro. Great for cross-generational bonding; group bookings are also available?when gals also get a goodie bag and tiara? Like, who doesn’t want to be a princess? At Brown Thomas Dublin, Cork and Limerick.
