The beauty look to try next season? Suede skin and a glossy lip

Brown Thomas Beauty Stylist Aidan Corcoran shares how he created the supremely sheeny 90’s look at the Brown Thomas Autumn Winter 2018 show.

What was the brief for the beauty look on the Brown Thomas AW18 catwalk?

We were briefed for a modern take on 90’s revival skin. The look was super luxe, suede skin textures with accents of light and reflective gloss to recapture the light and maximise its reflections.

NARS Soft Matte Concealer, €30

Wow, suede skin sounds beautiful. How did you create the look?

Starting with the base we worked Charlotte Tilbury iconic Light Wonder Foundation, €42, into the skin with fingertips. This was coupled with NARS Soft Matte Concealer, €30, for added extra coverage on any area that needed.

Any other products you used?

Laura Mercier Candleglow Powder, €38, was invaluable backstage to recreate those 90’s luxe skin textures. It’s a wonder product that perfectly softens outlines and pores but leaves the skin luminous – basically the perfect powder for AW18. For eyes, MAC Paint Pot in Groundwork, €22, is the truest taupe to create a softer, washed away eye. It can be blended out effortlessly with a MAC 217 blending brush to create soft structure on the eye. The lipgloss had everyone talking too. We created that supreme sheen and uber gloss, with NARS Triple X Lipgloss, €25. It captures and bounces out light in a mesmeric, enchanting way.

What’s one new product everyone should buy for summer?

I love a tinted moisturiser for summertime, Laura Mercier’s iconic Tinted Moisturiser, €48, comes in two textures, matte and sheen both with satisfying clean coverage. If you’re going to be spending a lot of time outside, Clinique’s new FIT range with an SPF 40 and velvet matte finish is perfect!

What’s one new beauty trend everyone should try this AW18?

Softer brows and velvet skin are my two main obsessions for AW18. Skin is always going to be your best accessory and by keeping yours with a luxe finish this season you will be able to manipulate and control how the light bounces out.
