5 Minutes With Beauty Guru Triona McCarthy

It’s almost time for our anticipated inaugural Beaut-Tea?event and?our first stop is the wonderful city of Cork?this Sunday, October 2nd in the incredible surroundings of Hayfield Manor – grab tickets before they go HERE – with beauty tips galore, fabulous prizes and plenty of bubbles. ?When it comes to seasonal beauty, AW is the perfect time of year to switch up your beauty choices. Luckily, we’ve done all the hard work for you and Beauty Director and Editor-in-Chief ?Melanie Morris will be on hand alongside beauty guru Triona McCarthy, to hear about your beauty woes and of course, tell you how to solve them.

Ahead of this Sunday’s event, Triona sat down with IMAGE.ie and let us in on a few of her beauty secrets and must-have products for the new season:

Tell us the one thing you do to adapt your beauty routine for autumn??

I always start with a new nail and lip colour, and play around with eyeshadow colour combinations. ?At the moment, I’m going for a reddish brown eyeshadow colour – I love the palettes from Chanel’s new Le Rouge collection and green nails – green is a very in shade this season too. I also like to change my foundation if I can find the right one. I used Armani Silk Foundation for years and thought I’d never stray, but lately, I love Shiseido’s new Synchro Skin Lasting Liquid Foundation as it looks really natural yet gives great coverage and stays put all day – the ultimate?foundation test!

Have you any tips for Irish women who might be hesitant to go for the stronger beauty looks of AW?

The one tip I always give is to start small and change your lipstick. It doesn’t have to be an expensive brand (Catrice have a great shade range for almost nothing) but go into Boots or wherever ?and opt for a lip colour you wouldn’t normally choose and you can work it into your outfits. I also love products that you can use on the go, so right now, Tom Ford’s latest?lippy the Lip Contour Duo which has a lighter?lip liner on one end and one the other, a deeper?lipstick, is always in my bag.

Any other products you’re loving at the moment?

Toner. Toners?are back and having a moment this season and the right one will work wonders on your skin. The Pixi Glow Tonic is a firm favourite and because we’re on the topic of skincare, face masks are worth investing in too – if not for the Instagram-worthy selfies! – as is any product which contains vitamin?C for that ultimate skin boost. Personally, I use products that contain Vitamin?C during the day (Image Skincare’s Vitamin?C moisturiser is brilliant) and Retinol at night and then I feel my skin really looks its best. ?I also love Estee Lauder’s?Advanced Night Repair Skin Masks – as they replenish your skin with the moisture?you lose during winter being stuck inside in the heat all day. And a skin supplement can work wonders; I’ve noticed a real difference using?Image Skincare YANA Daily Collagen Shots, a new daily beauty liquid collagen drink that helps to rebuild and strengthen skin by boosting the body’s natural collagen production. I’d love to take more than one a day but you’re not supposed to! I would also describe the Dyson Hair Dryer as a game changer in terms of hair – it’s incredible!

Finally, ahead of the Cork Beaut-Tea event this Sunday, do you have any go-to places in the city?

Pam in Sobe Brown in Cork is my go-to for?hair when I’m there (she knows me so well) and I love a bit of vintage clothes shopping too – Miss Daisy Blue is one of my favourite places for those real finds. I can’t wait for the event on Sunday and it’s always great to have another excuse to venture back to Cork!
