A national celebration of neurodivergence is taking place this Saturday
This Saturday, March 7, Neuroconvergence, Ireland’s neurodivergent-led movement for unity, creativity and inclusion, returns to University College Dublin for the finale of its Rethink Ireland series.
Responding to the need for a unifying umbrella organisation within Ireland’s rapidly evolving neurodiversity sector, Neuroconvergence works to support meaningful dialogue and a shared agenda for change, build community through connection and celebrate neurodivergent arts and culture.
Highlights of this Saturday’s free, family-friendly public festival, from 2pm to 6pm at the UCD Student Centre include a powerful live musical performance with five Irish artists – Rónán Ó Snodaigh, Dani Larkin, Áine Tyrrell, Fiachna Ó Braonáin and Myles O’Reilly – coming together for an immersive exploration of music’s sensory, emotional and neurodivergent dimensions, and the programme also features renowned artists, activists and speakers, including Dr Mary Doherty, founder of Autistic Doctors International , Dr Ebun Joseph, leading Inclusion and race relations consultant, and the founder and CEO of the Institute of Antiracism and Black Studies (IABS).
There will be a performance of Unveiled by Max Whelan, Ireland’s first theatre production by a non-speaking autistic writer, directed by Al Bellamy and performed by Eleanor Walsh and Nathan Patterson, plus performances and readings by leading neurodivergent dancers and writers, a human rights panel blending lived experience with legal expertise, a gaming bus and sensory cinema, creative breakout spaces, sensory zones and more.
“Every organisation in this space does vital work,” says Peter O’Brien, founder of Neuroconvergence. “What’s been missing is the space to bring everyone together. At our Neuroconvene event on January 24, we combined conversation with artistic and wellbeing moments, creating a space where lived experience, advocacy, and creativity could genuinely connect.”
The event is free and open to the public and designed for all ages and neurotypes. Reserve your spot and view the full programme at neuroconvergence.ie.
