WATCH: Original Means Girls cast recreate infamous phone call

For a little lightheartedness this weekend, a virtual recreation of a certain Mean Girls scene will go down a treat

Lindsay Lohan and Rachel McAdams recreated the classic phone scene from Mean Girls when they got together for a virtual reunion recently.

The recreation, which Lohan has only just shared on Instagram, shows the actors reprising their roles as Cady Heron and Regina George, to re-enact their phone call about the North Shore High Spring Fling.

In the video, McAdams and Lohan can be seen virtually acting out the scene from their homes, spliced with footage of the original call. It also features appearances from the other Plastics, Lacey Chabert and Amanda Seyfried.

The now-cult comedy written, by Tina Fey, was released in 2004 and asides from some of the original cast clearly drinking from the fountain of youth, the script remains as ‘fetch’ as ever.

Other members of the cast also joined a virtual reunion earlier in the month and shared some insights into the movie.

McAdams said “Is butter a carb?” and “Whatever, I’m getting cheese fries,” are the lines that fans quote to her the most, while Lohan explained that originally, she really wanted to play Regina since she’d already played a high school outsider in Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen. Ultimately though, she felt a connection with Cady and ended up in the leading role.

The reunion was held to ultimately encourage everyone in the US to vote, because in the words of Gretchen herself, “That would be so fetch.”
