Proving that smart design is the best way to create extra space in your home, this project is full of clean lines, giving a calm finish.

Storage is a bugbear for so many of us in our homes. Whether you live in a one-bed apartment or a large home in the country, it seems that the issue is often the same – not enough dedicated places for all of our things.

This project in Malahide, completed by Realm, proves that careful planning and some clever design can create sleek, almost invisible storage in every room in the house. Throughout the home you’re met only with beautiful materials and open space, thanks to plenty of storage that keeps clutter out of sight.

Based in Hanover Quay in Dublin, the design studio offers a full interior design service, and is known for its specialisation in quality, exclusive materials and products.

This attention to detail is evident everywhere in this Malahide home, starting with the beautiful bulthaup kitchen. A minimalist block of grey units almost disappears into the wall, providing plenty of storage without feeling obtrusive in the space.

A white kitchen island with an inbuilt sink and hob is a social place to cook and chat, while a contrasting black slab creates a breakfast bar.

This space is part of an open-plan kitchen and living area, and so seamlessly flows into an area to relax.

Here, a wall of custom Porro units not only incorporates the television and fireplace, it conceals yet more storage, showing how storage can actually be turned into a feature in the room with its beautiful wood detail.

The hallway is another great example of this, where a floor-length mirror slides to reveal a storage area for coats, bags and shoes. It makes storage work twice as hard, not only providing a place to keep necessary items, but also bouncing light around the space.

A utility room maximises the available storage space with a wall of units, while keeping clutter away from the main living areas.

Stylish touches are to be found everywhere in this home, from the wood and glass internal doors by Albed, the light fixtures which add interest, and touches of colour through art and soft furnishings.

The outside space has been transformed into another area to relax, with furniture and seating from Talenti to stretch out on, and an outdoor stove for entertaining on chillier evenings.

Realm’s curated collection of exclusive, complementary brands are synonymous with innovation and luxury and help deliver their collective vision to elevate their clients’ lifestyles.
