This Skerries home with sea views on two sides is on the market for €1.75 million

This Skerries home with sea views on two sides is on the market for €1.75 million

Overlooking the harbour to the front and the beach behind, few homes can boast such impressive views.

Built in the 1870s, Seaward is a home in a particularly unique position, with water both to the front and back. Overlooking Skerries harbour to the front, and with South Strand beach to the rear, it is surrounded by the sea.

Originally owned by the 1st Baron Holmpatrick, it later belonged to the owners of the adjacent Red Island House until the 1970s when acquired by the current owners. The current owners completed extensive renovations, and have loved its proximity to the sailing club.

Although it appears small from the front, the house is deceptively large, totalling around 217 square metres. The ground floor has a large entrance hall, three bedrooms and a family bathroom, as well as utility and storage spaces.

The house has been oriented to make the most of its views, so the main living spaces are all located on the first floor. This includes the main bedroom with an ensuite bathroom, which has spectacular views, as well as a garden room that was added in the 2000s.

There is also a large living and dining room with a vaulted ceiling and picture windows to make the most of the views. The kitchen and breakfast room lead out to a balcony that has idyllic views over the harbour, the perfect place for a morning coffee. The balcony has been designed to give views of the water even when you are seated.

To the back of the home is a garden, walled in cut stone. With mature planting, it provides privacy and serenity, but also gives direct pedestrian access to South Strand.

Skerries is a particularly sought after location. As well as its access to the sea, there are plenty of shops and restaurants, and Dublin’s city centre is easily accessed by train, while Dublin airport is just 20 minutes’ drive away.
