This cottage with a modern glass link on the Sheep’s Head peninsula is on the market for €195,000

These two beautiful stone cottages have been linked with a glass corridor, creating a perfect mix of old and new, with the sea on your doorstep.

West Cork is known for the beauty of its coastline, but even by its standards Fóidín is set in a pretty incredible spot. Located on the famous Sheep’s Head peninsula, this two-bedroom cottage is close to the sea and from the property you can see spectacular elevated views of it.

It is made up of two stone buildings, full of traditional cottage charm with their rugged walls. A modern glass link connects the two spaces, turning them into one home, and allowing light to flood in through the middle of the house.

On the ground floor, there is a large open-plan living and dining area with a double height ceiling, making it feels unexpectedly airy for a cottage. There is also a stove to keep things cosy in the winter. There is a galley kitchen off this space, while stairs lead up to a bedroom on a mezzanine level.

On the other side of the house is the second bedroom and a bathroom, and on the first floor there is an additional living space with sea views and doors that open out to the garden.

Outside, there is a decent sized patch of land around the home, much of which is left as meadow. There is also a small patio area, while the area around the glass link is planted with some trees and flowers.

The Sheep’s Head peninsula is an undoubtedly idyllic location, with 20 looped walks allowing you to explore its natural beauty and views. The village of Durrus is just a 10 minute drive away, while you’re perfectly situated to explore the rest of West Cork, and the Wild Atlantic Way.
