Margot Robbie is a huge ‘Love Island’ fan and this is who she wants to win this year

Margot Robbie is a huge ‘Love Island’ fan and this is who she wants to win this year

She may a multi-award winning actress, but Margot Robbie knows how to appreciate the good things in life and has admitted – on more than one occasion – to being a huge ‘Love Island’ fan.

Love Island tends to dominate the conversation any time it returns to our screens. A very divisive topic, people generally have lots to say on the matter (good and bad) so it’s always a reliable choice when trying to get someone talking. You might think that rule only applies when trying to find common ground with the office newbie, but it works a treat when interviewing Hollywood royalty too it seems.

Revealing herself to be as invested in the reality dating series as the rest of us are, Margot Robbie told The Mirror that she’s very much a Love Island fan – and she even has a favourite this year. “I love Liberty,” she gushed. “She is my favourite, for sure.”

“It’s incredible how much you care about these people you have never met.”

Currently over in the US, she’s still been tuning in every night so she doesn’t miss any of the action. A long-standing fan of the show, Margot even met some of the islanders a couple of years ago. Let me jog your memory…

The year is 2020. Margot Robbie is busy promoting the movie Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) in which she plays the lead character. She’s working the red carpet when next thing you know she’s face to face with some of the Love Island crew… and in a very surprising turn of events, Margot had absolutely no chill about it whatsoever.

The feeling was mutual though and none of the islanders could contain their excitement either. Chris Taylor was so star struck he ended up looking like Chandler Bing trying to pose for his wedding photos (his comparison, but fairly spot-on). Don’t worry Chris, we wouldn’t be able to act natural around Margot Robbie either.

Later admitting that she recently took the obsession to the next level, Ms Robbie threw herself a Love Island-themed party for her 31st birthday this year. Decking her house out to resemble the Casa Amor villa, all guests arrived in swimwear Margot and her pals posing for photos by the pool just as the islanders would.

How would she fare on the show herself? Somehow the Wolf of Wall Street star doesn’t think things would bode well for her. “There is no way I was ever cool enough to be on it. I don’t think people want to spend a summer watching a girl who sits around and drinks beer and eats chips every evening. I’m glad I found love the conventional way,” she joked.

I personally don’t think that would be a problem… her status as a taken woman probably would be though, so perhaps she and husband Tom Ackerley should cook up their own version of the show.
