Dublin Fire Brigade reports 70% increase in calls on Halloween night

Almost 400 calls were made to fire services in Dublin on Saturday night

Dublin Fire Brigade reported a spike in calls on Halloween night, with a 70% increase on calls last year.

Over the course of Saturday night, the fire services received calls reporting 398 fire-related incidents, with 202 requests for an ambulance, making it the busiest night of the year so far for the services.

Last year saw 229 fire-related incidents and 298 ambulance calls.

In a statement, Dublin Fire Brigade said that most of the fire-related incidents this year did not require intervention, and that crews experienced very little anti-social behaviour. No injuries to crew members were reported.

However, updating throughout the night on Twitter, the services did report attending to a number of people with hand, eye and facial injuries as a result of fireworks.
