Welcome to 2020, What's On readers! There are no January blues to be found here, as we kick off the new year with a great weekend of what's on in Dublin. Happy weekend from IMAGE!
All weekend: See the Starman at Bowie on Film at the Light House
The Dublin Bowie Festival takes place across the city this weekend, commemorating one of music's most enduring icons. If you're a lover of Bowie's cinematic presence as well as his stage one, then head to the Lighthouse Cinema to catch a screening of some of his cult-favourite movies. Labyrinth singalong anyone?
Saturday: Get some culture at the Dublin Gallery Crawl
Doing a dry January? You can still get your crawl fix with a bit of Saturday morning culture at the Dublin Gallery Crawl. Walk through some of the city's best creative spaces, learn about the artworks and maybe score some new mates for the new year in the process. Best of all, it's absolutely free to join.
All weekend: Get your head straight at First Fortnight
January is a challenging time for our headspaces, with the madness of Christmas over and the prospect of a new year looming. If you find yourself struggling, there's no shame in it — thousands feel the same, and will be heading to events at First Fortnight to talk it out. Taking place until January 19, the festival will feature musical performances, art exhibitions, plays and stage shows, and community conversations around mental health. Many of the events are free, and you can take a look at their full programme here.
