Bruce Jenner’s Transition Interview with Diane Sawyer

bruce jenner

We wrote recently about the media ugliness that Bruce Jenner has had to deal with since rumours started spreading about his gender identity. We commended the Kardashian and Jenner family for wrapping themselves around the man who raised them in act of love and support. Since then the media has remained in a frenzied state, speculating over when and how (and even if) the former Olympian would broach the subject of his changing identity to the wider public.

In any other instance, we could probably say that, well, it really has nothing to do with anyone other than Bruce Jenner and his immediate family, but given the fact that the Kardashians and Jenners have long earned a buck by airing their personal lives in public, it seems that outsiders feel they have a right to know and to have things explained to them.

Whether he wants to or not, Bruce is going to do just that. We had heard he’d cover the subject on the hit show Keeping Up With The Kardashians, and we worried that the show’s producers may try to sensationalise his story, as any reality TV show would, but now it appears he’s taking a different tack: a docu-series that will chronicle his story in a sensitive manner, as well as an initial interview with ABC News Veteran, Diane Sawyer. It will air in May. His mother, apparently, is very, very proud.

Radar Online nabbed an interview with Jenner’s elderly mother, who confirmed that her son is indeed transitioning.

?I just learned about [his transition]… Bruce filled me in, and we had a very long, long, long talk about it…?I have never been more proud of Bruce for who he is, himself as a father, as an Olympian, a wonderful public speaker. He instills enthusiasm in people. He’s gifted…?Right now I am more proud of him for what he’s allowing himself to do. I am more proud of him now than when he stood on that podium and put the?gold medal?around his neck. He deserves all the respect…?I’support?him whole-heartedly… I just love him like I always have.?

Esther, Bruce’s mom, believes that her son will now become a poster boy for other folk dealing with the same journey. Her son, she says, has always considered the ways in which he can help others.??If he can help other people with?emotional problems,? she said, then speaking publicly about it will be all worth it.
