Books, movies and cosying up: autumn is officially here with What’s On

Feeling cold yet? We certainly are, as coats, tights and tissues for runny noses have suddenly become the accessories of the week. What better way to kick off this autumn season than a weekend of unreal things to do around Dublin? Happy weekend from IMAGE!

Saturday: Kick off Dublin Fringe Festival, one of the highlights of the year

What's on in Dublin

A highlight of the cultural calendar, Dublin Fringe Festival begins this weekend and continues throughout September, with some of Ireland’s brightest creatives showing their wares to audiences around the city. Dance shows, workshops, panel discussions and, of course, plenty of stellar drama and theatre makes the entire festival one for the calendar. Find your favourites and buy tickets ASAP on their website.

Sunday: Grab the men in your life and head to the Menswear Swap Shop with Sustainable Fashion Dublin

We’re currently in the midst of #SustainableSeptember at the moment here at IMAGE, and while anything fashion related is typically aimed at the ladies, the men in out there need to get on board just as much. Sustainable Fashion Dublin’s many projects have been on the up this year, but this weekend, they’re focusing on menswear, with a swap shop and panel discussion taking place this Sunday in the Tara Building. With guest speakers Jake McCabe, Billy Bunzari and Steve Reddy, the hosts Taz and Geraldine will chat about all things vintage and upcycled, with the opportunity to score some great pieces included.

And for next week, don’t miss a conversation with Vicky Phelan, as she launches her new book Overcoming in Dublin

Vicky Phelan’s story of resilience, bravery and justice is an inspiration to us all, and we can’t to read her new memoir, Overcoming, when it launches this month. Phelan was one of many women who were diagnosed with cervical cancer and not informed that a clinical audit carried out by the national screen programme CervicalCheck had revised their earlier, negative smear tests — meaning that their cancer could have been preventable. Vicky has become a national voice on the issue, campaigning for women’s lives around the country, as she fights her own struggle with cervical cancer. Eason are hosting a series of conversations with Vicky around the country to talk about her story, and to allow the public to hear her fight for the truth. Don’t miss out and book your tickets now.
