Méid Denim not only has a size-inclusive range that works for multiple body shapes, they're also taking steps to minimise the impact of their products.
Finding the perfect pair of jeans is an arduous task. Finding the right fit can be a struggle, and jeans typically aren't kind to the planet, so it's hard to find sustainable options.
We always love to support Irish brands as well, which is why we're excited about the launch of Méid Denim, which makes jeans from a size 8 to 22, with plans to expand this range. As well as this, the cut is altered as the sizes go up — it becomes more rounded for the larger sizes to better fit womens' curves, helping to ensure a perfect fit for everyone.
Founder and owner Megan Geraghty Byrne, from Monkstown in Dublin, says she has always struggled to find jeans that fit her body shape, and noticed how hard it was to find good jeans over a size 16. She decided to design jeans in a wide range of sizes in a fabric that is comfortable, stylish and flattering.
She has also considered the impact of her products on the environment. Denim production typically uses a lot of water, so Méid Denim uses only reused water in its production. Their products are shipped in bags that can be home composted within six months, and also come with a reusable cotton bag.
The brand has committed to planting trees in areas with high deforestation with Tree Nation to offset their carbon emissions. A single tree can absorb 250 kilograms of carbon dioxide during its lifetime, so planting trees is a great way to tackle climate change. Méid Denim will plant a tree for every order they receive.
There are three styles to choose from, Uisce, a dark blue denim, Grá, a signature black jean, and Oíche, a leather-look pair with great stretch.
