The Latest R-Patz Movie or a Malahide Festival?

Our pick of the best events this week…

Family Festival in Malahide
This weekend Malahide Castle, North Co Dublin hosts Ireland’s newest festival for families. WonderFest will feature live music acts from bands like Spring Break and The Seducers, plus a host of fun activities for children and adults alike, including circus performances and workshops; science shows; theatre; dance classes; arts and crafts; magic; falconry; live animals; rock climbing; bouncy castles; characters; face painting; sailing and watersports; and plenty more.
If you’re looking to stay the whole weekend? The family-friendly campsite opens Friday at 6pm and closes Monday at 10am, and there’s even a glamping option. For more information and to buy tickets go to Wonderfest.ie

The Rover
Robert Pattinson may have given the impression that post-Twilight he went underground to forget he ever starred as a shiny eternal teenage heartthrob vampire who impregnated his self-esteemless girlfriend on the first go. However, the British actor was in fact shooting The Rover in Australia with Guy Pearce. The movie looks incredible with the desert serving up the perfect post-apocalyptic backdrop for this dark tale of survival in an eerie and dangerous future. The creators are labeling this a ?futuristic western? and it hits Irish screens this weekend. See the trailer below.

Kilkenny Calling
The Kilkenny Arts Festival continues this week and a road trip may be on this weekend’s cards. Lady Antonia Fraser is talking about the art of the historical biography tomorrow and the acclaimed production of Much Ado About Nothing continues until Sunday. For more information see kilkennyarts.ie http://www.kilkennyarts.ie/

Birthday Pad Thai
It’s the Queen of Thailand’s birthday tomorrow so make your way towards our favourite Thai restaurant,?SABA. A banquet of Pad Thai only needs the vaguest of excues. For more information and to book see sabadublin.com

And if you’re staying in tonight?
Yes, the television schedules are either following the Made in Chelsea crew around Manhattan or looking back at the seismic event that was the First World War, but the latter is actually legitimately important. War reported Kate Adie is on BBC 2 tonight looking at what the Great War meant for the women left behind while generations of men perished on the front line. Society underwent its biggest transformation as women entered and excelled in industries previously forbidden to them. Adie follows the women whose expected quiet futures of marriage and children became irrevocable. Sit down for 9pm tonight.
