Another big company has offered services to help in the Covid-19 crisis. Inditex (owner of  Zara, Massimo Dutti, Bershka, Oysho, Pull and Bear, Stradivarius and Uterqüe) has shut nearly half its stores worldwide as a result of the coronavirus. The company has said it is now looking at converting part of its textile manufacturing in Spain to produce hospital gowns.

To “meet Spain’s emergency needs of both medical and textile materials” the company has also offered to open its supplier network for products such as protective masks, gloves, goggles and caps.

It is reported that Inditex has already donated 10,000 protective masks to Spanish medical workers and another 300,000 are on the way this week.

Another large company, Pernod Ricard, the maker of Absolut Vodka and Jameson Irish Whiskey announced last week that it would convert its facilities to produce hand sanitizer to donate amid the worldwide shortage

Luxury company LVMH, which owns Louis Vuitton, Tiffany, Dom Pérignon, Bulgari, TAG Heuer and many more high-end brands have also ventured into the hand-sanitizer sector by converting their perfume-making factory lines. The company said “LVMH will use the production lines of its perfume and cosmetic brands… to produce large quantities of hydroalcoholic gels”.
