FLOTUS, Michelle Obama is all about giving sterling advice to young women when it comes to prioritising their education. She recently spoke at an event,?The Power of an Educated Girl? where she encouraged young women to not only compete with the boys when it came to there college education, but to beat them as well. ?There is no boy, at this age, cute enough or interesting enough to stop you from getting an education. If I had worried about who liked me and who thought I was cute when I was your age, I wouldn’t be married to the president of the United States.?

Now, reinforcing her status as a fantastic role model for these young women, Obama – with the help of Saturday Night Live comedian Jay Pharoah – has dropped her first rap video, about how kids (young women and men) should go to college.

?If you wanna fly jets, you should go to college. Reach high and cash checks, fill your head with knowledge,? the pair rap. It’s completely brilliant, and we particularly love this inspired piece of wisdom:??If you wanna watch paint, don’t go to college. But for everything else, you should go to college.?

The video, which was made with the help of the Gregory Brothers and CollegeHumour, is part of the First Lady’s Reach Higher campaign. It aims to help kids get a higher education, ?whether at a professional training program, a community college, or a four-year college or university?.

She not only reinforces some inspiring words, but also has the rapping moves down to a tee; enthusiastic hand gestures, the obligatory ‘recording in the studio’ shot and she throws some mean dancing shapes too.

?I want to honour and empower young people who are working hard in school and pursuing their dreams – and I want to do it in a fresh and fun way,? she’said. She has certainly succeeded.

In the video Obama, who grew up in a working-class family in the South Side of Chicago, raps about her own experiences of working hard to do well at Princeton and Harvard.

?We had to do overtime every night to make it tomorrow and everyone can really make their dream true,? she raps. ?Hey, kid listening in Michigan, that could be you.?

She’s empowering, inspirational and down with modern times. We would like a full-length album, please.
