Michelle Obama: No Boy Is Cute Enough To Stop You From Getting An Education

FLOTUS, Michelle Obama has some sterling, no-bullsh*t advice for young women (and young men). We only wish Lauren Conrad could have received this pearl of wisdom when she decided to stay in Malibu with Jason (shout out to all The Hills fans) and not go to Paris.

Instead of getting caught up in the haze of some cute guy who you’re hoping will add you on Snapchat, ‘compete with the boys’, she said, candidly, at a Glamour event in Harlem for which she was their esteemed guest. The event was called “The Power of an Educated Girl.”

Shooting from the hip, Michelle didn’t beat around the bush when it came to these young women. “Compete with the boys,” she told them.”Beat the boys.”

“There is no boy, at this age, cute enough or interesting enough to stop you from getting an education. If I had worried about who liked me and who thought I was cute when I was your age, I wouldn’t be married to the president of the United States.?

Watch her full speech here and spread the word. It’s incredibly easy for young girls to see more value in their dating life than their homework, and it’s hard for them to see this far down the line – at 16, we thought we had it all figured out, right? – But boy, will it be worth it. That’s not to say you can’t have a little fun along the way, but our education should never be compromised.
