Airfield Estate, Dublin city’s 38-acre working farm, will throw open its gates this September 9th to 11th for the return of its Festival of Food.?Foodie fans are invited to visit Ireland’s largest urban food and farming experience for a special weekend focussing on food sustainability including climate, waste, health, seasons and a showcase of great Irish food.?Entrance to the festival is free, but some events are ticketed. Joining the Airfield Festival of Food, the River Cottage Dining Experience takes place in Overends Restaurant on Saturday 10th from 7pm to 11pm with chef Gelf Alderson curating a seasonal dining experience. The 5th instalment of the Evolve Paint Jam takes place today at The Bernard Shaw. The street art and graffiti event will see some of Dublin’s best artists -including?Vents, Novice, and Thiago?– coming together for a unique afternoon of paint, creativity, and dance in the relaxed surroundings of the Bernard Shaw. Plant-based foodies unite! Dublin’s annual Veg Fest takes place tomorrow, September 11th at the Griffith Conference?Centre, Dublin 8. This is Irelands largest vegan event and guests can expect demo’s, guest speakers, and market stalls. There will be loads of local produce to try too including?healthy?whole foods, plant milks, cheeses, meats, fusion cuisine,?juices, superfoods, raw, gluten free, energy bars, cuisines from Asia, The Middle East, Europe, North American and Latin American, as well as street food classics and craft brewed vegan beer. Want to see what fashion will potentially look like in 100 years time? The Futuristic Beauty Fashion Show aims to do just that. Closing the Dublin Fashion Festival that has been taking place around the city for the last week, the show will include international designers focusing on the latest innovation trends within Textile and Technology, as well as futuristic body painting, and a student design competition. The event is organised by Cradle;?an Irish non-governmental organisation helping children in war-torn countries and regions of the world hit by environmental crises.?Funds raised this year will be directed to Nepal in our attempt to alleviate the suffering of Nepalese children after the devastating earthquake last April.

‘Composing the Island: A century of music in Ireland 1916?2016’ is an exciting new centenary project?launched by Heather Humphreys, Minister for Regional Development, Rural Affairs, Arts & the Gaeltacht with the RT? National Symphony Orchestra. Over three weeks in September (7th – 25th),Composing the Island will present 29 concerts of orchestral, choral, instrumental, song and chamber music by Irish composers written between 1916 and 2016.?Many of Ireland’s leading performers will take part as well as?the Band of the Defence Forces School of Music.
