3 for Tuesday: Micellar water that works hard for your skin

3 for Tuesday: Micellar water that works hard for your skin

Micellar water is what I use as my first cleanse, with its water-suspended micelles collecting dirt and make-up easily. Here are my favourite three.

When you’ve got a full face of make-up on, a double cleanse is generally required. The first pass, with micellar water (or make-up remover) gets rid of the surface level grime and then the second pass with a decent cleaner (something with acids is great) gets your skin properly clean.

micellar waterEau Thermale Avène Micellar Lotion

€15.99 from boots.ie

For anyone with super sensitive skin, this is the micellar option for you – it feels like all you’re using is water, but without leaving skin feeling tight or irritated.

While there’s no clever dispenser to speak of (I usually just use it over the sink to be safe) it’s great value for money while being non-comedogenic too.

Bioderma Sensibio H2O Make-up Removing Micelle Solution

€12.29 from boots.ie

The OG and arguably most well-known of all the micellar waters, Bioderma’s latest iteration features the best dispenser ever – the press and pump top dispenser. It makes it super easy and clean to dispense.

Aside from the ease, the price is great, the resulting thoroughly cleansed skin is what you want and trust me – there’s not a make-up artist working who doesn’t use this in their kit.

Lancôme Eau Micellaire Douceur

€39 from boots.ie

This one is incredibly good, but it’s very expensive. I feel like I use it at the same rate as the others too, but it really leaves my skin feeling clean but not parched.

The dispenser on this one is great too, it’s a pump-action one so you don’t have to worry about spillage.

What are your favourite first pass cleansers?
