Stranger Things cast to receive huge pay rise for season three (150k per episode huge)
20th Mar 2018
Season three of Stranger Things is in the early stages of production, but talk of the cast’s salaries is in full swing. After two successful series, numerous Golden Globe nominations and a Screen Actors Guild Award, the cast of the hit Netflix show are set for a bump in their pay packets.
The sci-fi show follows a tight-knit group of boys whose lives are flipped upside down when a mysterious girl shows up in their neighbourhood. Their brilliant comedic and emotional performances have garnered an audience of 8.8 million viewers per episode (on average, according to Variety), and with these numbers expected to grow, producers have decided the kids deserve a raise.
Going forward, the youngsters will receive approximately 12 times their previous rate, industry insiders told the Hollywood Reporter. “The main actors are divided into different pay tiers,” they revealed. “Winona Ryder (Joyce) and David Harbour (Jim Hopper) make up the “A tier” and are making up to $350,000 an episode. The “B tier” consists of the young stars – Finn Wolfhard (Mike), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas) and Noah Schnapp (Will) – who are each collecting $250,000 per episode.” That’s enough money to buy a two-bed apartment in Galway, or a small island in Vanuatu, South Pacific. Not bad for a group of kids in their very early teens.
“Meanwhile, the actors in the “C tier” – onscreen teenagers Natalia Dyer (Nancy), Charlie Heaton (Jonathan) and Joe Keery (Steve) – are each pocketing roughly $150,000 an episode.”
As for Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), her new salary is unclear. While the British actress will definitely earn at least $250,000 per episode (as per her young co-stars) she may be earning as much as $300,000. The 14-year-old starlet has won multiple awards since the series began in 2016 and is also making a name for herself in the beauty and fashion industry. With over 15 million Instagram followers, some believe she’s worth as much as Winona Ryder.
