The festivities are in full swing and now all we want is a hot alcoholic drink. Here are six of the best places to get a glass of mulled wine in Dublin this season

‘Tis the season for socialising and making (sometimes) regrettable decisions.

We are all on that distinct Christmas buzz, where any trip into the centre of Dublin ends with some type of hot alcoholic drink. One of our favourites – and arguably the most Christmas-themed – is a glass of mulled wine. The aromas and taste of the festive drink are what Christmas dreams are made of.

There is nothing we love more than sitting by a fire, surrounded by friends, drinking mulled wine and celebrating the season. But where in Dublin provides mulled wine in spades? We have found six of the best bars which do just that.

The Church Bar and Restaurant

With a perfect location in the heart of Dublin City, this is the ideal spot to stop off after Christmas shopping on Henry Street. The former St Mary’s Church of Ireland was built in the 18th century and is unlike any other bar in the city right now. The bar celebrates Irish music and dance so you can be guaranteed a few jigs and reels while feasting on a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie.

Urchin Bar, Cliff Townhouse

The Urchin Bar in the luxurious Cliff Townhouse on St Stephen’s Green is the perfect post-Christmas shopping stop for a glass of the hot stuff. Sit back, enjoy and don’t forget to order some of the incredible food too.

Fallon & Byrne

Fallon & Byrne on Exchequer Street is always a go-to for those who love their wine and good food. From nibbles to full-blown meals, it’s ideal for a special dinner and a mulled wine extravaganza.

Street 66 Dublin

Tucked away on Parliament Street this lively music bar is a hidden gem. With a distinct love for reggae, funk, soul and jazz, it is full of character. And it also makes a delicious batch of mulled wine daily. Plus, the bar is dog-friendly.

Fire Restaurant and Lounge

Located near the idyllic St Stephens Green, this award-winning venue buzzes all year round but particularly ignites in December. The dining room was built in 1864 as the Lord Mayor’s ‘Supper Room’ and features vaulted ceilings, stained glass windows and a beautiful terrace which overlooks the Lord Mayor’s Garden. It also doubles as an ideal spot to sip on their famous mulled wine.

Hole in the Wall

Touted as Dublin’s most festive pub, the Hole in the Wall located in Pheonix Park is a sight for sore eyes. Decortated with lights and decorations from top to bottom, it’s like walking into a winter wonderland. It’s lovingly cosy and serves some delicious food too.
