After much anticipation, America’s first lady Melania Trump has just unveiled her Christmas tree and decorations for 2019

After spending Thanksgiving with her family in Florida, Melania Trump has just revealed the White House Christmas tree and decorations.

“The Spirit of America” is shining in the White House,” she said. “I am delighted to share this beautiful exhibit of patriotism for all to see, and excited for everyone to experience the beauty of the Christmas season.”

Unlike last year, when Melania was criticised for her ‘eerie’ red Christmas trees, this year’s decorations are bright and traditional. As always, there are numerous trees in various rooms of the White House, all of which are unveiled in the festive video below.

Magical

People have already flooded social media channels with compliments for this year’s presentation. Some people have described Melania’s decorations as magical, others have used words such as beautiful, stunning and classy.

It makes for a nice change from last year, when the first lady received some criticism for her use of ominous, blood-red ones. The colour red was meant to symbolise “the pales, or stripes, found in the presidential seal designed by our founding fathers,” Melania said in a statement.

However, social media users said the scarlet trees looked menacing. Political reporter Emily Singer tweeted, “Melania’s Christmas decorations look like they’re straight out of The Shining.” Meanwhile, Dana Goldberg compared the trees to characters from the Handmaid’s Tale.
