Have You Lied About Reading These Books?

Have you lied about reading a book, when you’ve just seen the movie? What about at school – did you actually read Romeo & Juliet or did you watch the Baz Luhrmann film? Speaking of him, how many people do you know who claimed to read The Great Gatsby a couple of years ago? Is it just me who knows all these literary liars?

Apparently not.

According to a study from The Reading Agency, 11% of people have lied about reading a book to impress someone. Men are more likely to do this than women, with almost one in five men surveyed saying they would lie about reading habits to impress in a job interview.

The survey of 2,000 UK adults commissioned to mark World Book Night?found that millennials, between age 18-24, are the biggest liars when it comes to reading. An outrageous 64% of people in this age group said they had either lied about the volume or type of books that they had read, and?25% of them said they’d lied about reading Lord of the Rings.
