House for sale in Loreto Road, Killarney, Co Kerry

Looking for an elegant new home with lake and mountain views? This four-bedroom property along Loreto Road, Killarney, might be for you

Imagine waking up to lakeside views each morning. What if you could sit on your very own balcony, sipping a cup of coffee while overlooking the water?

If you have €1.6 million to spare, you could do exactly that.

Located along Loreto Road, Killarney, this four-bedroom family home boasts 180-degree, south-facing views of Lough Leane and the McGillycuddy Reeks.

What’s more, estate agents at Sherry Fitzgerald Coghlan say the house is “finished to executive standards, on a large, 2.5-acre professionally landscaped site.”

‘Aisling’

Affectionately named ‘Aisling‘, the property is located within an exclusive gated community development. There are just 10 other private homes here, all within three kilometres of Killarney town. Other nearby amenities include Killarney National Park, Muckross House, the National Events Centre, a number of golf clubs, beaches and Kerry Airport.

The spacious entrance hall, which measures 4.8 x 4.25 metres, has a double-height ceiling with four Velux windows. French doors lead into the kitchen and living room, and there’s easy access to the roomy guest bathroom too.

To the front, a casual living room boasts a light American hardwood floor, a marble/stone open fireplace, decorative coving, and high-quality designer wallpaper.

A separate, formal living area (which doubles as a dining room) measures 8.56 x 6.5 metres and comes with a sandstone fireplace, a mahogany hardwood floor and coved ceilings. French doors also lead to the patio.

The kitchen

The kitchen-cum-dining room comes with Scavalini cherrywood kitchen units and a centre island. There are black granite worktops throughout, two sinks, a dishwasher, oven and hob, an American-style fridge/freezer and microwave.

There are also vaulted ceilings with feature Kingpin trussed roof beams, which add country character to the home. To the rear, double patio doors lead to an outdoor granite patio; perfect for al fresco dining with superb lake and mountain views.

Elsewhere, a separate utility room (measuring 2 x 1.93 metres) has a tiled floor and built-in walnut storage units.

The formal dining room comfortably seats six people and overlooks Lough Leane and the McGillycuddy Reeks. Current owners have styled the room with elegant wallpaper, a chandelier and luxurious rug.

Upstairs

The master bedroom measures 5 x 5.3 metres and has French doors opening onto the balcony (offering exceptional lake and mountain views). It also has oak floors, sophisticated wallpaper on the feature wall, and dark wooden furniture.

The master also boasts an ensuite bathroom, with a shower, jacuzzi bath, WC, wash hand basin and marble floors. What’s more, there’s a fully fitted dressing room for those that are sartorially-inclined.

Each of the other bedrooms is double in size, with solid oak floors, its own ensuite and walk-in wardrobe.

As with the majority of the house, the main bathroom offers beautiful views across the lake and mountains.

Outside

Elsewhere on the property, there is an external double-garage measuring 21 square metres. There are also well-kept lawns and mature shrubbery, as well as a sweeping driveway which leads to a private courtyard.

A number of outdoor seating areas are located around the perimeter of the house too; ideal for enjoying a morning coffee or entertaining in the evening (though they may go unused throughout winter).

In terms of security, there are wrought iron entrance gates at the top of the driveway, as well as a burglar alarm and CCTV camera system installed.

At €1.6 million, ‘Aisling’ on Loreto Road, Killarney is more of a dream property than a realistic purchase. Still, there’s no harm in window shopping.
