The sunny weather has arrived early – it is only mid-April after all – and frankly, none too soon. We’ve decided that dragging a dining chair outside and a second for a footrest will no longer suffice.

Deckchairs are the epitome of summer. They instantly conjure long, languid days spent on the beach and drowsy afternoons reading in the garden. We round up some of our favourites, many of which can be folded and stacked for easy storage in the wet winter months.

Eco Chair, €196, The Blue Door

A Scandinavian spin on the slatted deckchair, these thoughtfully designed seat are made of larch timber that will fade to a pale silver over time are ideal for laid-back lounging.

Rocking Deck Chair, around €97, Garden Trading

For some garden relaxation, Garden Furniture’s rocking deckchair captures the classic summer picnic feeling, and the curves arms are surprisingly comfortable.

Woood Lois chair, €139, Woo. Design

This two-piece seat is perfect for a small balcony and it can be easily folded and put away when you need the space.

French Stripe Deckchairs, around €86, RE Found Objects

What is not to like about the traditional beechwood deckchairs with washable covers in an array of French stripes?

TribÙ Branch Beach Chair, €765, Formality

Designed by Lievore Altherr Molina, this modern take on the traditional deckchair combines a cast aluminium frame with a comfortable sling.
