These are the top 17 cult buys of the summer

These are the top 17 cult buys of the summer

Every season there are items that reign supreme – here are the top 17 cult buys of summer 2020

In the myriad of clothes produced each season, some stand out.

Whether it’s the trend of the time, a good PR campaign, sartorial nostalgia, or a TikTok proclamation of coolness, there will always be the selected few who reach the land of visibility.

This summer was no different. Even though the pandemic has changed the fashion and retail landscape, the desire for what’s new and in style never wavered.

And so, here are the cult items of the season.

Shoes

It seems high heels won’t see the light of day until party season. The cult shoes of summer 2020 all have comfort in mind. Arizona Love’s bandana sandals are happiness in footwear form and can be worn 24/7, while Nike Air Force Ones and New Balance dad trainers take the top spots as the sneakers of the season.

Dresses

Throw-on dresses took on a new meaning when the world stopped along with our energy. Kitri’s coral linen Margot dress is a stunning easy-to-wear option, along with & Other Stories’ black wrap mini dress – a wardrobe staple. If looking for something more form-fitting, Faithfull the Brand’s floral ruched bust midi dress is to be worn in lush meadows only with a wicker basket in hand and Rixo’s poppy printed crepe midi dress is the perfect companion to any upcoming nuptials.

Trousers

Dickies are associated with the working man but the alternative fashions kids changed the brand ethos. Wearing stone skate trousers will have you believing you are walking through Brooklyn and not the streets of Tralee. Weekday Voyage jeans are one of the top-selling designs for the brand. High-waisted with a straight leg, the fit is flattering and they come in a wide range of sizes.

Tops

If one top has defined the summer it’s the shoulder pad t-shirt by The Frankie Shop. The original might be too pricey for some right now but Mango has done a fine job in replicating the design at a more affordable price (and with less padding). Musier’s Carrie top is summer in a crop top. Beautifully designed and made for pairing with a flowing midi skirt and a pina colada.

Accessories

TikTok introduced Vivienne Westwood to a new legion of fans by making the brand’s pearl chocker go viral. Worn by every fashion influencer on the app, it’s the perfect mix of old and new. If looking for well-made gold plated jewellery, look no further than Alighieri. Its pearl drop earrings have been seen all over Instagram and will add soemthing special to the simplest of outfits.
