Amber Heard Facing Court in Australia For Smuggling Her Terriers

If you think the most stressful part of travel is getting to civilization from whatever remote former army base Ryanair leaves you at, then you are dealing with less stressful holiday woes than poor Amber Heard.

The actress is facing a huge legal quagmire at the moment after she brought her two Yorkshire terriers, Boo and Pistol, into the country last April. The actress was visiting her husband Johnny Depp at the time, he was filming the seventeenth Pirates of the Caribbean movie in the country, and had travelled by private jet. Because she is the wife of one of Hollywood’s most famous and successful actors, we guess. Anyway, Australia had no chill because the pooches weren’t quarantined.

The country has some very serious laws in relation to quarantine to stop infections spreading and endangering some of the most varied species in the world. If you want to bring an animal to Australia, you must apply six months before arriving and also make a series of visits to the vet to make sure your pet isn’t carrying any diseases. And then there’s a 30-day quarantine stay at a centre on arrival. It’s an arduous process, but one that everyone must obey.

As soon as the story of Amber and Johnny’s dogs hit headlines, Australian officials said the pets needed to ?bugger off? back to the US or be put down. They were taken home a few days later and yesterday Heard was issued with a summons to appear in court.

The Magic Mike XXL actress now faces charges of illegal importation and another charge of producing a false document, Page Six reports. The repercussions of being found guilty at her Queensland hearing in September include a potential fine of $200,000 or ten years n prison. The dogs are really cute.

Where do you stand on Amber Heard’s Terriers versus Australia?
