Undecided about your weekend plans? Well, look no further than Thrive 2019.

The Thrive Festival 2019 is taking place in the Convention Centre in Dublin City from Saturday, March 30 to Sunday, March 31 and is a weekend you won’t want to miss.

The fitness, wellness and food event is in its inaugural year and Mazda is the festival’s automotive partner, and there couldn’t be a better fit. Mazda believes in enso, an ancient Japanese ideology and a sacred symbol in the Zen School of Buddhism. The word enso is made up of two Kanji symbols which mean enlightenment and connectedness; the feeling you get when everything in life just seems to be coming together.

This philosophy is applied to every Mazda vehicle which is made.

At this year’s festival, Mazda will have an immersive enso experience, which includes a Mazda Zen garden where Thrive guests can unwind with Japanese tea and a complimentary shiatsu-style massage.

The festival has an exciting line-up of health and wellness experts, including actress Gemma Atkinson and junior doctor and best-selling author Dr Hazel Wallace, aka the Food Medic.

Gemma will be taking to the stage on Saturday to offer up her expertise and easy tips on how to live a more healthy and balanced lifestyle. Hosting the conversation is All-Ireland champion camogie star and Dancing with the Stars finalist Anna Geary.

Dr Hazel Wallace, who is renowned for her easy to follow and no-nonsense healthy recipes, will be chatting all things nutrition and fitness.

Breakfast back in bed. What.A.Treat. Wrapping up lectures this week as I come towards the end of my MSc in Clinical Nutrition and Public Health. I still have a few exams, essays, and my dissertation to do over the next few months so its not totally tools down – but it feels like quite a big weight off my shoulders. Yesterday I shared on my stories how a woman asked if it was my first year in University and how I explained it was my 8th year – with a 2 year gap in between to work as a doctor. Maybe all this stress hasn’t aged me after all? haha. Anyway, it was a really important moment for me for many reasons. The things I am most proud of in my life are my degrees, not because of any title or any label, but because I had to work pretty hard to get where I am and I’m very proud that I made it through – and enjoyed it. Of course I’m super proud of my baby brand The Food Medic, and the books, and it’s lovely to have such a large platform to share what I’m passionate about and try bring about change but I also always remind myself – if social media didn’t exist in the morning, would you be okay? And the answer is yes. I would be more than okay. I get asked all the time by students how I built a business online, and get asked by many medical students how to have a career in the media as a doctor, and I absolutely see the attraction in that but first and foremost ?? Develop and hone your skill. Not only do you want to have a solid career or something to fall back on if you business idea doesn’t work out, but also you don’t want to be distracted at this critical point in your life when you’re fighting through assignments and deadlines. Blogging, social media, or any form of media is a great side hobby while at University but remember that your Brain and drive is worth more than any number of likes. Sorry guys, feeling quite emotional this morning!?? #TheFoodMedic
