6 Excellent Exfoliators For Winter

6 Excellent Exfoliators For Winter

When it comes to the winter season (and it is here with a bang), your skin invariably suffers as a result of the dramatic change in temperature and harsh weather conditions; it gets dry, cracked, and flaky and it will need more than a decent moisturiser to rescue it.

Even if your skin is more dull than dry, exfoliating at least once a week is beneficial, as it ensures a smooth surface and removes dead cells and dry flakes. This important segment of your beauty regime is especially useful at this time of year when skin tends to get extra tight and lacks its lustre. It is the norm to exfoliate one or twice a week, however, it is important not to overdo it; too much exfoliation and you’ll dry the skin out even more, resulting in a face that is dehydrated and inflamed – not the desired effect you’re after.

To (smoothly) revitalise your skin and bring it back to life, why not try these six excellent exfoliators:

Bobbi Brown Buffing Grains For Face, €39

Mix these grains in the palm of your hand with a little water, or your usual cleanser, to create a radiance boosting scrub. Note: the gorgeous packaging is a plus here, making this product effective and dressing table worthy.

Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Skin Brightening Exfoliator, €29

CCWhite_Exfoliator_125ml_lg

Clinically proven to help reverse skin discolouration, this high-performance scrub packs a powerful punch if you’re looking to improve skin clarity and minimise skin irregularities.

Una Brennan Rose Hydrate Brighten & Refine Facial Scrub, €11.99

SF Rose Scrub

This facial scrub with cooling Menthol deep cleanses and exfoliates to gently remove dead skin cells, resulting in smoother and more even-toned skin. Suitable for sensitive skin, the scrub is packed with natural moisturisers; Provitamin B5 and White Willow extract leaves the skin looking brighter and helps stimulate natural cellular renewal.

Clarins Gentle Exfoliator Brightening Toner, €31

Clarins toner

This is a quick and easy exfoliator to use if you’re on the go. It’s a gentle and refreshing exfoliating lotion formulated with ultra-gentle Tarmarind fruit acids, which eliminates impurities thus leaving skin smooth and bright. Simply add a few drops to a cotton pad and pat on your face.

Nivea Gentle Exfoliating Scrub, €3.99

Nivea Gentle Exfoliating Scrub

This is a very gentle option, suitable for highly sensitised skin. The exfoliation beads help gently remove dead skin cells and Vitamin E-packed formula is mild enough to target oily, blemish-prone skin.

Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix Exfoliating Facial Pads, €17.99

10148524

These facial pads are small but deadly, and each is soaked in a very small amount of Glycolic Acid, which aids the retexture and resurface of skin while witch hazel helps to tone. This is also a moisturising formula; the pads contain hyaluronic acid that helps smooth the skin’s surface and aids the unblocking of pores.

These are firm favourites of ours, but by no means an exhaustive list. The important thing is to find one that’s right for you to ensure your skin stays healthy and smooth during our cold winter season.
