An evening dedicated to celebrating brilliant Irish audio and media creatives, the Irish Podcast Awards took place last week, and there were many worthy winners in attendance.

Why were we there?

A true celebration of the flourishing Irish podcasting scene, this awards ceremony champions the country’s best shows with a view to helping them grow their audiences and reach new heights. Judged by a panel of professionals working across the Irish audio and media sector, and podcast companies from across the world, the Irish Podcast Awards’ inaugural ceremony generated quite a bit of excitement.

The winners

With shows being awarded third, second and first place across a grand total of 27 categories throughout the night, a huge number of hugely popular Irish podcasts received some well-deserved recognition. Among them were The Witness, which took home the overall Podcast of the Year title, the gold award for Moment of the Year and Best Documentary Podcast, and the bronze award for Best True Crime Podcast.

Jenny Claffey’s Red Room Podcast took home gold for Best Marketing, while The Good Glow won gold for Best Health or Wellbeing Podcast and The Northern Bank Job won gold for Best True Crime Podcast. In the Best Entertainment Podcast category, gold went to The Tommy, Hector and Laurita Podcast, silver went to The Blindboy Podcast, and bronze went to This Paranormal Life.

In addition to the set categories, there was also a Listeners’ Choice award which was decided via free public vote. The bronze winner in this category was Real Life Ghost Stories, while the silver award went to My Therapist Ghosted Me, and Talking Bollox took home gold.
