Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey are in Ireland – and of course, there’s a Jedward connection

Forget six degrees of separation, sounds like there’s much less between Jedward and Hollywood actress Amy Adams.

Both Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey have arrived in Ireland in recent days. Here to film Disenchanted, the sequel to the much-loved Disney original Enchanted, they’ll reprise their respective roles as Giselle and Robert Philip – one a singing and dancing optimist from the magical world of Andalasia, the other a cynical Manhattan divorce attorney.

Sure to keep us all in the loop as to how they’re adjusting to life this side of the water, the duo took to their personal social media accounts to document their stay thus far. Posting a short clip from the home she’s staying at – presumably somewhere near Enniskerry where the movie is set – Amy said that she’s “very excited” to be here.

Also sharing a few photos from the Emerald Isle, Mr Dempsey (famed for his role as Derek Shepherd or McDreamy on medical drama Grey’s Anatomy) simply captioned the first “Ireland!”. Doing his utmost to assimilate to Irish culture as best he can, the second snap is a selfie in which the star can be seen donning a Paddy cap and standing in front of some rather disinterested neighbours.

Needless to say, fans all across the country have been sent into overdrive at their arrival, as is often the case when the Hollywood contingent descend upon our humble shores, who could forget Matt Damon at that SuperValu bag.

And of course, there’s a Jedward connection.

As longtime Amy Adams supporters will know, the actress is no stranger down these parts, having already stayed here when filming the movie Leap Year here back in 2010. A romantic comedy in which Amy plays Anna Brady, she travels across the water to propose to her boyfriend on leap day. Things go awry and I won’t ruin the ending for you, but things don’t work out as she’d hoped. Reminiscing on their memories of the movie, Jedward revealed that they actually “serenaded” Amy while she was here.

“Cool story we sang for Amy when she was filming Leap Year in Dublin back in 2008. She was in her robe outside her trailer loving life, two Irish twins John and Edward serenaded her and had the laughs and chats. Always a Jepic memory.”

Whether they will reunite this time around or not remains to be seen.
