Amy Winehouse Documentary

Amy Winehouse

The first trailer for the feature documentary chronicling Amy Winehouse’s life, Amy, has landed just as the Irish release date has been announced. This highly anticipated film will hit Irish cinemas on July 3rd, expecting to draw an impressive crowd of folk who adored and mourned her one-of-a-kind voice. Amy died unexpectedly at the age of 27 on July 23rd 2011 at her home in Camden, London. It was a celebrity death that rocked the world, granting Amy with the tragic status of being part of ’27 Club’, along with Kurt Cobain, Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix (among many others) who also met their maker at the age of 27. The documentary is said to be an intimate portrait of the star whose music took the world by storm.

Having premiered at Cannes, so far the reviews have been positive with some even suggesting that Amy will be a major contender when it comes to the Best Documentary category at next year’s Oscars.

With plenty of never-before-seen footage of Amy’s home videos, handwritten song lyrics, letters etc., you can expect quite the emotional telling of a life cut far too short.
