This Connemara cottage complete with a round room studio is on the market for €450,000

A cottage with a 150 year history, Tigh Miclin is located in the picturesque Cloon, Cleggan, Connemara, county Galway.

Brought to the market by Matt O’Sullivan Auctioneers for €450,000, this charming traditional Irish cottage and studio are located in the picturesque Cloon, Cleggan, Connemara.

The old cottage — which could be more than 150 years old — has been lovingly refurbished and renovated to a high standard about 25 years ago. The stone-built studio with the fascinating ‘round room’ was built more recently. Both cottages are full of traditional features which were crafted with utmost care and attention by master craftsmen.

There is a history of music and art here, which seems to have infused the cottage and studio with a sense of character and place that makes this property very special indeed. The original cottage has two bedrooms, one bathroom, utility room, kitchen/ dining room and central living room. Features of note include but are not limited to coloured slate floor tiles, handcrafted iron masonry, local stone and fired earth marble mosaic features.

In the case of the studio, the living room is located within the round room which is a very interesting feature. In addition, there is a study / lounge, bedroom and bathroom. Again, beautiful mosaic work and stained glass windows are to be enjoyed throughout.

The views of Cleggan bay and headland are just magical from here. Both the cottage and studio have underfloor heating and there is also an Electric Vehicle charging point installed.

The fishing village of Cleggan is a mere five minutes away by car or 20 minutes by foot. This is where one can also get the ferry to the much-loved Inish Bofin island. Clifden town and all of its amenities is 10 minutes from here by car.
