Waistcoats; the 90s-era Kate Moss trend we’re still loving

Y2k fashion is still having a resurgence and Kate Moss will always be our style-spiration... particularly where waistcoats are concerned.

In January 2021, Vogue reported that “waistcoats are back and naughties-era Kate Moss would be proud”. Over three years later and the trend has yet to go anywhere.

According to Lyst, page views for tailored waistcoats were up 33 per cent last August, with The Row, Gabriela Hearst and Mango among the most popular brands for the outerwear piece.

Available in an array of different styles – from deep V-necks to cropped, linen, tweed and denim – they’re a great addition to your wardrobe as you can mould them to fit just about any dress code. Pair with denim cutoffs and docs to nail the Glastonbury aesthetic, team with matching suit trousers for an office-appropriate getup or wear with a matching linen skirt like Sofia Richie did; waistcoats pretty much tick all style boxes, which is why they’re such a great investment.
