Victoria Beckham x Mango: Everything we know about the Spice Girl’s first highstreet collection
Former Spice Girl-turned-luxury designer, Victoria Beckham will launch her first collection with Mango later this month.
Timing its release with the highstreet stalwart’s 40th-anniversary celebrations, the new collection will bring VB style to the masses, at a much more affordable price point.
Focusing on hardworking staples, clean tailoring and a fresh palette of neutrals, the capsule collection will be a “perfect blend of classic British luxury, Victoria Beckham’s immaculate style, and Mango’s contemporary design”. Sounds like it will be a sell-out success if you ask me.
While we’ve only gotten a peek at two items from the upcoming drop – a ruched dress with a plunging neckline (pictured left) and a delicious, oversized blazer and matching trousers – it promises to deliver basic pieces you’ll want to reach for season after season. According to The Guardian, prices are expected to be higher than Mango’s typical offering but will still be much more modest in comparison with items from Beckham’s eponymous brand which range from £90 for a T-shirt to £2,650 for a shearling coat.
The latest in a slew of other highly sought-after collaborations, so far, Mango has already teamed up with the likes of Camille Charrrière, Pernille Teisbaek and Los Angeles-based lifestyle brand Simon Miller who wowed with their bold SS23 collection.
“We always try to choose brands or talents whom we admire and who represent similar values to ours. We love [Victoria’s] signature style and how she has managed to claim a place of her own in the fashion industry. This collaboration reflects her immaculate style, and Mango’s contemporary design,” Mango said in a statement about the upcoming collection.
Speaking to WWD, Beckham described her designs as “sensual, considered and feminine”, adding that her aim in working with Mango was to “speak to a wider audience in a way that feels relevant to my brand and retains my aesthetic”.
“I am very proud of what we have created together. It feels very modern to bring the two brands together and build on our expertise, and I was very impressed by the Mango teams’ level of execution, attention to detail and savoir-faire,” she continued.
“[I set out to create] a conscious, modern wardrobe, perfect for the summer months. There is a cheekiness, but it is also very put together. I was inspired by the iconic French film La Piscine, and more specifically by Jane Birkin’s character and ease. She is all about natural beauty, is highly feminine, and has a real sense of freedom.”
Her favourite pieces include the slipdresses and of course, the tailoring – a VB staple.
Victoria Beckham x Mango will be available to shop online and in stores from April 23.
