Style Ignite Studio – The new sustainable Irish knitwear brand that’s about to be your summer layering essential

Style Ignite Studio is an exciting new Irish knitwear brand that has just launched, hoping to bring stylish, sustainable fashion to the fore.

Set up by Louth sisters Ruth and Jane Flanagan, Style Ignite Studio is a new Irish sustainable knitwear brand. Aimed at helping us both look and feel good, together the sisters have designed and created a womenswear collection that is as affordable as it is stylish.

Always united by their shared love of fashion, the sisters’ first foray into the industry came thanks to their blog of the same name, Style Ignite. Set up many moons ago, it gave them a platform on which they could document the things that inspire them. A blend of fashion, lifestyle, travel, and their respective experiences of working in both the US and the UK, the duo already have years of expertise in fashion and lingerie design, fashion PR, social media, personal shopping, sales and production, and visual merchandising and display amongst other things.

All of which led to the conception and inspiration for their online fashion business, which they launched just last week. Moving home from London during the early weeks of the first lockdown last year, Ruth joined her sister Jane at their family home in Louth where together, they worked quietly behind the scenes to bring their vision to life.

Leaning into the laidback lifestyle that came as part and parcel of having nowhere to go and nothing to do, the sisters noticed that their wardrobes changed a great deal during the past few months. Opting for comfortable clothes in soft fabrics, their plans for the collection also evolved during this time. Wanting to create stylish pieces in uplifting, bright colours, the hope was to spark joy during an otherwise very difficult time.

Speaking of where they drew inspiration from, the Flanagan sisters told me, “the idea of going back to nature and slowing down to appreciate the natural things around us inspired the hand-embroidered floral designs of summer blossoms and garden daisies which are very evident in our designs.”

Intent on ensuring the collection is as ethical as possible too, they opted for GOTS certified organic cotton – not only because it’s soft and breathable but because they feel it is vitally important to support organic cotton farmers. In an effort to amp up their sustainability efforts even further, Style Ignite Studio will also donate €1 to Friends of the Earth Ireland for every sale made. Part of the world’s largest grassroots environmental network, the organisation celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.

Ranging in price from €49 to €120, the new all-season knitwear is available in an array of bright pastels making it a great investment for summer layering. Shop some of our favourites below.
