Silver metallic will help your wardrobe shine this year (literally)

Silver metallic will help your wardrobe shine this year (literally)

The tinfoil look is in, apparently.

The Grammys was this weekend and if there’s one thing we took from the ceremony it’s that silver is in.

Both Beyoncé and Lizzo were seen sporting fabulously shiny frocks at the awards. R ‘n’ B icon Mary J Blige wore a crystal-covered gúna by The Blonds while Harry Styles donned a full fringe, silver sequin jumpsuit. Even Paris Hilton opted for metallic on the night, so you know it’s hot.

And it’s not just celebrities who are favouring the look either with Boohoo reporting that global searches for “silver outfit” skyrocketed by 617% after the ceremony. Such is the power of Beyoncé, I guess.

Usually reserved for just the festive period, most people probably associate silver and sequins with Christmas time, but they’ve extended their reign this year and have been dominating designer collections and red carpets alike.

Whether it’s foil trousers – a fresh SS 2023 alternative to classic leather pants – a pair of metallic cowboy boots or a  shimmering trench coat that takes your fancy, there are plenty of (easy) ways to incorporate the trend into your existing wardrobe without feeling like you’re wrapping yourself in tinfoil. My advice? Build your look around one standout piece, keeping everything else minimal to let it really shine (pun very much intended).
