Vintage christmas jumpers

Ensure you look unique on December 25 by shopping these vintage Christmas jumpers. Some are beautifully festive, others are tacky – and we want them all

Christmas is on its way and with it comes an opportunity to wear gloriously festive (sometimes tacky) Christmas jumpers. While the high street is full of mass-produced options, this year we’re choosing to shop vintage.

The joy of shopping vintage is you can be (almost) guaranteed no one else will be wearing your sweater. Not only will you look unique, but your jumper will also tell a story (something which can’t be said for fast fashion items).

What’s more, vintage shopping is kinder to the environment (did you know 60% of all clothing produced ends up in landfill or incinerators within a year of being made?). By buying jumpers from the 80s and 90s, you’re breathing life into old garments while also reducing your carbon footprint. Winner, winner, roast turkey dinner.

Word of advice, though – when it comes to vintage Christmas jumpers, it’s better to shop sooner rather than later. With (usually) only one item available in each style and/or size, when it’s gone, it’s definitely gone. Get your favourite retro sweater before someone else does.

Here are 18 vintage Christmas jumpers we’re eyeing for winter 2019.
