Winter is coming, here are six stylish wellies for jumping in puddles

Walking through the rain in sparkling white sneakers is not ideal. Whether or not you’re a fan of drizzly days, ugly mornings can mean jeopardising your killer autumnal style. Ireland’s unpredictable weather will spoil your squeaky-clean kicks for sure, and if you’re anything like me, the slightest speck of dirt will have you running to buy another pair.

I might have been hesitant at first, but street-style gurus have proved me wrong – wellies are the investment shoes of this season. Dressing for a downpour is never easy, especially if you’re heading to the office or a brunch date with girlfriends. As misty drizzle and frequent rain showers become more of a hindrance, something practical (but seriously stylish) is what we all need (I’ve put aside my faux fur and suede knee-highs). And paired with wet-wash leggings and an oversized coat, a pair of wellies is just the thing.

Designers such as Alice and Olivia, Prada and Burberry have given us plenty of reasons to love them. So be smart, functional and practical; and prepare yourself for rainy days with these fashion-approved wellies. Ranging in height, I’ve sussed out some fabulous finds – none of which compromise on style, of course! Check out my edit below; it’ll have you hoping for rainy weather all season long, maybe.

Aisha Waterproof Chelsea boot with faux fur lining, Lemon Jelly, €125.82 at nordstrom.com

Women’s original leopard print lining refined short wellington boots, Thicket, €135 at hunterboots.com

Saltwater boots, Sperry, €85.54 at shopbop.com
