We know it’s mid-July and most of our immediate concerns are centred around just how exactly we’re going to be able to afford a social life while weekending in Barcelona (airline sales = good idea at the time), but you may want to start putting some cash aside for your clothing allowance. Autumn/Winter is on the horizon (the earth is round and circles the sun and seasons are inevitable) and that means some of our favourite shops are about to stock up on some of our future favourite things. We dropped into the department store of every Irish woman’s dreams this morning, Brown Thomas, for a glimpse at what rather fabulous fashion director Shelly Corkery has filtered from the runways to discerning rails. Here are some of our highlights from breakfast:
Dior. You need their coats in your life.
This Chlo? coat will make you the Oscar-winning heroine of your own life. If swoon worthy is an overused adjective in fashion writing, then take our keyboard away.

If you want to make a workwear investment this year, layer with Marni.
Our personal favourite of the entire runway was David Koma‘s peplum sleeve white shirt teamed with an a-line mini. The Man From U.N.C.L.E trailer, anyone?

Dries Van Noten evoked some updated?Shogun vibes, and that’s a very good thing.
Dolce & Gabbana‘s stunning maternal themed show from last Spring made an appearance. Jaws did drop at the sight of jewel encrusted headphones, as they generally do. Embellishments, rich wools, Italian heritage – tick all the boxes.
Hands up who loves their Irish Mammy! @dolcegabbana @officialbrownthomas #BTAW15

Alexander McQueen shows no sign of slowing down on the wearable high fashion. Who knew we’d have such love for frills? The gothic Victorian strain was at its most striking here.

Valentino‘s offerings were just simply beautiful. There was a chunky knit, a floral dress, and a stand-out white cape dress that had us wondering about Faustian deals.
Victoria Beckham was perhaps the crowd pleaser. Monochrome tailored dresses and wrap skirts in textured ribbed knits – how perfect can you get?
