Spectacular pieces perfect for a winter wedding

Spectacular pieces perfect for a winter wedding

I’m not married, but I always thought that if I was to say “I do”, I’d say it in autumn/winter, because it’s the season I love the most. Obviously I’m not the only woman who feels this way because winter weddings are becoming as commonplace as June brides.

My sister had a winter wedding and it was enchanting. The day itself was cold but bright, the trees outside the village church in Co Clare golden (the confetti was no match for the regal shades of the fallen leaves). At the reception there was warming mulled wine and charming open fires. But best of all, the guests wore wonderful brocade coats, chic faux furs, sophisticated dresses with long sleeves and high necklines in rich autumnal shades. It was such a refreshing change from the floral dresses and nude court shoes that populate summer soirees.

If you’re worried about what to wear to a winter wedding, don’t be. There are so many elegant, weather appropriate, options out there. I always think winter weddings demand a little extra drama – maybe it’s because it always feels more comfortable getting dressed up when the day darkens earlier rather than later, or perhaps it’s because autumn/winter is the season of dressing up, what with Halloween and Christmas.

I’ve pulled together an edit of stunning pieces that will make you wish every wedding invite was this time of year. And for those of you who, like me, have no nuptials to attend, buy something anyway. These pieces are too special not to splurge on.
