Polo necks? For winter? How revolutionary!

In all seriousness though, the high neck is making a big return this winter – no longer the super soft polo?you robbed from your mum that you only pull on when you’re home alone and can’t pay the heating bill.

The high neck is now officially fashionable thanks to ?pretty much every single designer from Paris to New York?and the unstoppable return of the 70’s means there are some seriously groovy patterns out there (sorry). If we had to pick one high street fav? it has to be this vintage-inspired?Topshop?Brick dress.

Think anything from?a high clasp collared jacket (like this one from Joseph) to a tunic style sweatshirt – if it’s got a high neck then its on-trend. This season is all about the layering process, so put that ribbed Boohoo crop top under dungarees and a woolly cardie or throw on that long?Topshop?tunic underneath a cable-knit sweater and jeans.

That Zara?Velvet Midi Dress has so many things going for it – from the laser cut outs to the Gothic Victorian look – it’s bound to be an all-round sartorial success this season. The Whistles gilet is high-necked and toasty looking, perfect for layering and its got the?fur that’ll be everywhere this winter.

Here are some of the best high street pieces that hit the high neck trend, as well as a number of other fashion high points.
