It’s 2017, and in Hollywood, that means one thing only – award season. The anticipated Golden Globes are this coming Sunday (with loads of our home-grown stars nominated – fly that flag!) but while we wait to dissect the choices set to sweep down the red carpet, we can cast our eye on the style at the Palm Springs?International Film Festival, where Irish actress Ruth Negga stole the show in an ethereal, floral Valentino gown. There’s no denying that all signs point to the Loving actress becoming the next darling of the industry – she appeared on the front cover of US Vogue and also won the Rising Star award at the ceremony last night – an Oscar nomination seems a sure thing if the whispers are to be believed.

Elsewhere on the carpet, Kirsten Dunst looked striking, and Natalie Portman (in classic black Dior) glowed despite keeping her baby bump covered. Amy Adams played it safe in florals, but this is because she generally saves her ‘wow’ moment for the Academy?Awards – we expect her to go bigger and better as the season wears on.
