It’s payday so this is what I’m buying from the Farfetch sale

It’s payday so this is what I’m buying from the Farfetch sale

Updating your pre-summer wardrobe just got a bit easier thanks to early sales. While most of our favourite places (Zara, etc) haven’t started their sales just yet, a few online treasure troves, like Farfetch, have. Before you spend all of your wages in one go, be strategic with your sartorial choices: will you get your cost-per-wear for this? How many outfits can you wear it with? Is it an impulse buy? These are the questions I ask myself before committing to uploading my precious card details and you should too. In celebration of payday, here’s what I’ve spent my wages on this month courtesy of Farfetch.

This double-buckled, bright red belt

In case you missed it, yesterday I spoke (typed?) about the revival of the classic belt. Much like the humble sock, a belt is no longer an after-thought and can be a stunning finishing touch to any ensemble. I love how striking this red belt by belt enthusiasts B-Low. A colourful belt is a great and easy way to add a punch of colour to a dark outfit, and wouldn’t a matching lipstick be the perfect companion? It’s 100% genuine leather so I know it’ll still be in great condition this time next year and, if anything, it will probably get better with time.

This stunning summertime playsuit

This cute ruffled playsuit from Zimmerman is screaming to be worn by warm tropical water with a pina colada in hand. I like how the tie neckline gives the wearer the option to have the neckline wide open or more conservative. And, not only will my new belt (above) look incredible paired with this, but the matching bag below is the icing on top of the cake.

This tropical T-shirt by Étre Cécile

Hello sunshine, my old friend! The sun is back (kind of) which means its T-shirt weather again. Far from being a fashion opt-out, a T-shirt is a cool and understated way to balance out florals, tone down tailoring and add ease to smart separates. I love the bright tonal print of this Étre Cécile parrot T-shirt: even a quick glimpse transports you to a pool bar in the Carribean somewhere. I have the perfect almond green suit that I’m going to pair this with, too.

These chunk-a-luscious Stella’s

Star Elyse platform shoes by Stella McCartney, €795 at farfetch.com

Admittedly, I’m new to the Stella club. I bought my first beautiful pair of Stella trainers (on sale too, no less), two years ago and I’m so pleased with how comfy they are how much they’ve kept their shape. I’m ready to make the plunge and invest in a pair of every-day shoes. I love the darker leather and contrasting bright chunk; they’re perfect for wearing with a smart suit or a casual sundress.

This teal going OUT-out bag

I am a self-confessed accessories person. I’m always on the look-out for standout pieces of kit and this mint dream is one of them. The coloured perspex handle beautifully compliments the mint and the leather has a gorgeous texture to it. What’s more, I can actually fit things I need into it; not just a single, travel-sized lipgloss. It’s available in orange and red, too.

While we have you, here’s this week’s ‘The Spill’ where Rhona and Sophie discuss the history of plastic surgery and the pros and cons of “ageing gracefully”, the complexities of cultural appropriation and handling an over-bearing mother-in-law. Enjoy!
